Since 2002 our 9/11 Family Camp has been for families and friends affected by the tragedies of September 11, 2001 from FDNY Ladder Company 3, Battalion 6 (and other firehouses) and Cantor Fitzgerald from New York as well as The Pentagon.
We are taking this year off from 9/11 & Family Camp. Here is a letter from 9/11 Camp Director Russ Williams:
Greetings from Damariscotta Lake! We’re seeing glimpses of Spring and patches of open water on the lake reminding us that summer is racing toward us! Unfortunately a “Perfect Storm” of events is preventing us from offering Family Camp this summer. Some of those reasons include that I am retiring on June 30th after running the 9/11 Family Camp since 2004. In addition, we’re hosting three very large Kieve and Wavus family weddings at the end of the summer. Finally, we’re welcoming Sam Kennedy (one of the weddings) on board as he trains to transition toward becoming the fourth generation of Kennedy family leadership. So, we’re going to take a bye this year, re-group, and come back with a plan for the future.
If you have your heart set on some Damariscotta Lake time, there are many great houses to rent on Air B and B, HomeAway, VRBO, etc. and we even have a few rental cottages contiguous to the Kieve property. If you do rent a place and want to come hang out here for a bit of Kieve-Wavus Magic, just let us know. As always, we would love to see you if you are traveling up this way. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions; Email is best (Henry is firstname.lastname@example.org, Charlie is email@example.com and I’m firstname.lastname@example.org).
I hope to cross paths with you at some point in the future – until then enjoy your summer!
